Happy Thanksgiving

November 25th, 2009 · 2 Comments

I can’t wait to harvest the last thing in our garden — the brussels sprouts!
This is the first year we planted veggies and it was a great experience.  We started our crops  from seed back in February, transplanting the young seedlings into bigger pots when necessary and setting them outdoors once the danger of frost was over. We enjoyed plenty of pole [...]

Rockport, Maine In the News

October 22nd, 2009 · No Comments

Not to be outdone by neighbor Camden, the village of Rockport, Maine, has been cited by Forbes Magazine as one of America’s prettiest towns.
I’m in complete agreement.  Rockport has a lovely, narrow harbor that rivals any on the Riviera, historic homes, and a sweet little downtown.  There’s a restored Opera House, a cute library, post [...]

Here’s a great clip of the stunning view from this favorite Camden hike. Thanks to my friend Tom for forwarding and to Graham Phaup (that’s his distinguished British voice you hear) for filming it!

Boston Magazine loves Camden, too!

October 13th, 2009 · No Comments

Boston Magazine agrees with all of us — Camden is one of New England’s (dare I say the world’s??) best small towns!  Check out the story here and in the meantime — another great view of Camden, from atop Mt. Battie.  My two sons were home for a visit this weekend and we took a quick [...]

Homecoming at Camden Hills

October 10th, 2009 · No Comments

Red and white balloons surround the athletic fields, tents are set up with burgers and hot dogs, and students sport red Windjammer sweatshirts and jackets — it’s Homecoming at CHRHS. We couldn’t have a better day weatherwise — crisp autumn temps with scudding clouds and occasional bright sun. The fall weather makes a colorful backdrop [...]

Trek Across Maine 2009

June 22nd, 2009 · No Comments

This year’s ride for the American Lung Association of Maine was a soggy one — especially the first day when it poured. Nevertheless, we did it and even enjoyed ourselves in the process. Thanks to all the ALAME volunteers who manned the rest stops and all of our donors (the pledges raised by the three [...]

La Vie en Snow

February 24th, 2009 · 3 Comments

My friend Dede called today and asked if I’d do her a favor.  “Sure,” I said, because I like Dede, and also, I’m taking a public speaking class and our teacher has advised us to gracefully accept things by saying, “It would be my pleasure.”  “Sure” is pretty close to that, and it’s better than [...]

Snowy February

February 5th, 2009 · No Comments

Okay, I had to snap a picture of Hoover on top of the snowbank.  No, he’s not looking for a groundhog…. it’s a family of squirrels he’s after. I don’t have any great comments to offer about real estate, life in Maine, or anything else — not right now, anyway — but thought you’d like [...]

Build Green Maine

January 27th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Yesterday’s Build Green Maine Conference was an energizing mix of informative speakers and knowledgeable attendees, and I’m very glad I journeyed west to Augusta to participate.  In true Gemini fashion I was there in two roles:  as a Realtor (I’ve just earned the National Association of Realtor’s new GREEN designation) and as President of Midcoast [...]
